Sunderland Tall Ships & Newcastle Tyne Cruise

Sunderland will play its part as a host to the Tall Ships in 2018, as it welcomes an international fleet of Tall Ships to the city. Visitors usually get the opportunity to step aboard these beautiful ships, whilst the crew prepares to compete in the Tall Ships Race. The camaraderie and friendly competitive atmosphere is all part of the experience before they embark on their onwards voyage towards Demark.

· Guided Visit to Sunderland’s Maritime Heritage Workshop

·  ‘Quay to Sea’ River Tyne Cruise. A fantastic way to see the changing face of the River Tyne. The cruise takes you under the magical Gateshead Millennium Bridge which opens especially for the cruise to enjoy the panorama of the Tyne Gorge before returning downriver as far as the river mouth. On your cruise you will see the legendary shipyards of Tyneside, the International Ferry Terminals, the Port of Tyne, the Fish Quay and the great views, including Tynemouth Castle and Priory, the memorial to Admiral Lord Collingwood and the beautiful sandy beaches of South Shields. The cruise turns at the piers, where seals and dolphins are regularly seen and returns to Newcastle’s Quayside

· A visit to Beamish - the world famous open air museum, telling the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s & 1940s
